We took a small propeller flight from Vegas to the Grand Canyon. I got a little motion sickness but on the way back, a bit of dramamine eliminated the problem.

We arrived in time to see the sunset over the Canyon.

On Sunday morning we awoke at 5 AM to get on a bus to see the sunrise over the canyon. It was cold but a very special experience.

Kathleen and I both smiled a lot on this leg of the trip. The scenery is amazing.

It was cold enough that I felt the need to purchase a sweatshirt at the gift shop.

We decided to take on the most challenging trail, the Kaibab. Here we are at the top of the canyon about to begin our 1.5 mile descent.

Along the way down we moved aside to allow a caravan of mules to carry some gear up the canyon.

The sky was perfect. We saw many ravens and several rare California Condors.

Our destination on this hike was Cedar Ridge. That's about midway down to the bottom of the canyon. You can't safely go to the bottom and back up in one day so we had to be content to go half way.

On the way back up we got a picture of this important sign. Stay out of the way of the mules!

When we reached the top of the canyon we posed for this victory shot. Victory over middle age, I suppose.
