My Barkmitzvah, June 9, 2001

 

Welcome. On June 9, 2001 we celebrated a silly Barkmitzvah ceremony to mark Clara's entrance into adulthood. She has learned all the necessary skills to be a wonderful member of the canine community. This evening clearly qualifies under the heading "any excuse for a party." You will need the QuickTime plugin for this page. Those with slow modems will experience some delay as the videos load.

The first part of the ceremony involves Clara unrolling a scroll called the "DOGMA" containing the five commandments of Dogdayism. Click the picture to start the video.

Then Clara reads the DOGMA with assistance from Kathleen and Steven. Click the picture to start the video.

The commandments are:

  1. Thou shalt honor thy Master and thy Mistress.
  2. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's toys.
  3. Thou shalt not beg at thy Master's table.
  4. Thou shalt not bark at 2 AM.
  5. Thou shalt play joyfully and live a long, healthy life.
