For many years, I was the Director of Computer/Media Services and Assistant Professor of Music Education for Temple University's Esther Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My job was to manage all computer hardware and software for the college including installations, configurations, user support and training, and curricular integration. I also taught music technology and web programming courses.

Today I am Chief Information Officer and part owner of Shearspire, Inc. I make my living doing web design and interactive multimedia programming under the banner StevenEstrella.com. I am still active as a clinician, author, and experienced presenter on topics in music technology. Lately I have been giving many presentations on the application of web publishing to teaching and learning in music. My expertise extends to multimedia computer programming and I am always working on learning new ways to add interactivity to web pages. I serve as Vice-President and webmaster for the Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME). TI:ME is a national organization with broad support from education and industry, whose mission is to establish standards for the training of in-service music teachers in the use of technology for teaching and learning in music.
