On Monday, May 31, the five of us went to the traditional Bavarian town of Mittenwald. On the drive there we caught a great view of the town nestled in the mountains.
One of the more notable features of Mittenwald is the practice of fresco painting on walls. These beautiful and detailed paintings are found on walls everywhere in Mittenwald.
The baroque parish church of St. Peter and Paul is notable not only for its beautiful fresco painting on the outside steeple but also for it ornate and gilded interior.
Mittenwald is also known as a center for violin making and repair. Key took advantage of the trip to bring one of his violins in for minor maintenance. Below is a photograph of the Mittenwald museum of violin making.
