Multimedia Companion for Music: An Appreciation by Roger Kamien

Medium: CD-ROM and DVD
Client and Date: McGraw-Hill Higher Education (2005)
Technologies Employed: Flash with ActionScript for audio, video, and animation
Description:
The Multimedia Companion enhances the study of music appreciation through activities that introduce and drill concepts and skills in music listening. The playful and informative activities in the Elements section bring music concepts to life with sound, graphics, and animation. The Instruments section provides video demonstrations of major orchestral instruments. Other activities include a video introduction to opera, art and music timelines for historical periods, a multimedia glossary, and interactive quizzes on many topics. A search engine was created to allow students to search the CD-ROM for content. A bookmarking feature allowed students to save pages of interest for easier access at a later time. Screen shots of other projects are available on the Media page.
